Invisalign is a brand of clear aligners used in orthodontic treatment to straighten
teeth. Unlike traditional braces that use metal brackets and wires, Invisalign aligners
are transparent, removable, and custom-made to fit each patient's teeth. The system is
designed to gradually move the teeth into their desired positions over time.
Consultation: During the initial consultation, a dentist or orthodontist will
assess
your teeth and discuss your treatment goals. They will determine if Invisalign is a
suitable option for your specific case.
3D Scan or Impressions: If Invisalign is chosen, the dentist will take a 3D digital scan of your teeth or traditional impressions. This information is used to create a precise digital model of your teeth.
Treatment Plan: Using the digital model, the orthodontist creates a personalized treatment plan, including the planned movements of your teeth throughout the treatment.
Aligner Fabrication: Based on the treatment plan, a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners are fabricated. Each aligner is worn for about two weeks before moving on to the next one in the series.
Wearing the Aligners: Patients wear the aligners throughout the day, removing them only for eating, drinking (except for water), brushing, and flossing. This makes Invisalign a more discreet option compared to traditional braces.
Follow-up Appointments: Periodic check-up appointments with the orthodontist are scheduled to monitor progress and provide the patient with new sets of aligners.
Treatment Completion: Once the entire series of aligners has been worn, the treatment is complete. However, it is common for patients to use retainers to maintain the new alignment of their teeth.
