When teeth are heavily decayed they may be too weak to survive with just a filling. By placing a crown, a tooth may be given a new lease of life. Even when a single tooth is lost a denture may not be required as a bridge can be made which spans the gap with a tooth attached to those next to the space. Sometimes when a single small tooth is lost at the front of the mouth a simple bridge can be made which has 'wings' that are glued to the back of the adjacent teeth. This results in fewer teeth being damaged by the drill.

Also called as "caps" they are used to restore and strengthen broken down damaged teeth. They mimic the color shape and size of the neighboring natural teeth . It covers and protects the entire tooth. Our team of dentists recommend a crown in the following situations:

A large and heavily filled tooth with very little natural tooth structure remaining.

A fractured , broken down tooth thereby protecting the remaining underlying tooth.

Root canal treated teeth : After root canal therapy is performed, a tooth becomes extremely brittle and is significantly weaker .

To cover discolored , malformed or poorly shaped teeth.

Dental Bridges:

A dental bridge is used when there is a tooth missing. It usually involves putting a crown on each tooth on either side of the missing tooth, and then a false tooth or teeth is suspended between the crowns.

The missing teeth are replaced with an artificial tooth connected between 2 crowns (caps) that are permanently connected on the adjacent teeth. They are permanent, fixed alternatives to tedious removable partial dentures.

If you have missing teeth, a bridge prevents the remaining natural teeth from shifting, so that dental arch integrity and esthetics are not compromised.
